Problem with a TOYOTA AVENSIS 1.8L 2001

TOYOTA AVENSIS 1.8L 2001 90K

Failing emissions test CO 7.0%.

The fault was cured by adding Advanced Formula Gas Treatment and Specialist Injector Cleaner to the fuel tank, after 5-10 minutes the CO level was restored below the limit to pass the emissions test.

Failing emissions test on idle CO 0.9% HC 250, catalytic convertor, oxygen sensor, EGR valve
replaced and valve timing checked, road test carried out and fault still present.

The fault was caused by a faulty EVAP unit, EVAP unit replaced and Specialist Injector Cleaner added to clean the fuel system, emissions restored and passed.

Problem with a VAUXHALL ZAFIRA 1.9L CDTi 2006

VAUXHALL ZAFIRA 1.9L CDTi 2006 105K

Lack of power and engine management light on. Fault code stored P242F diesel particulate filter blockage/ash accumulation, suspect particulate filter blocked. Road test carried out to allow regeneration, exhaust temperature only reaching 380 degrees Celsius.

The fault was cured by removing the Diesel Particulate Filter and pouring 2 x bottles of Advanced Formula Diesel Treatment into the Diesel Particulate Filter, soaking overnight then rinsing with hot water and drying with compressed air. The vehicle was then treated using Clean & Protect, 45 minute Advanced Formula Motor Flush adding Oil System Protector to the new oil and DPF Cleaner and Regenerator and Advanced Formula Diesel Treatment added to the fuel tank. The car was then taken for an extended road test to allow regeneration of the particulate filter, the exhaust temperature was rechecked reaching over 600 degrees Celsius, allowing a successful regeneration and restoring performance.

contamination build-up in automatic gearbox causing drag on engine.

The fault was cured by adding 2 x Automatic Transmission Treatment into the automatic gearbox and carrying out an extended road test, draining and replacing the transmission fluid and adding another Automatic Transmission Treatment to the new fluid.

Engine management light on, vehicle going into limp home mode and high exhaust emissions. Fault codes stored P0133 oxygen sensor bank 1 slow response, P0153 oxygen sensor bank 2 slow response.

The fault was cured by carrying out a 45 minute Advanced Formula Motor Flush adding 2 x Advanced Formula Gas Treatment into the fuel tank and carrying out an extended road test restoring vehicle performance and emissions.

Problem with a BMW Alpina

BMW ALPINA M52 engine

Engine rough running on cold start for the first few minutes and putting the management light on, fault codes stored for misfire and cylinders 2 & 4 shut down. The fault is caused by the hydraulic valve lifters draining out overnight and the ECU shutting down the misfiring cylinders.

The fault was cured by carrying out an extended Advanced Formula Motor Flush adding Oil Fortifier to the new oil and carrying out a spirited road test.

Fault codes stored P1553 map sensor fault, P1151 bank 1 long term fuel trim. Map sensor, front oxygen sensor, coolant temperature sensor replaced, throttle body cleaned and reset and valve timing checked, fault not cured and fault codes still present. Emission checked and excessively high on fast idle CO 7.57% HC 1650 lambda 0.750.

The fault was caused by a faulty EVAP unit, modified EVAP unit fitted, fault cured.

Diesel Particulate Filter warning light on and lack of power. Suspect particulate filter blocked. DPF differential pressure checked: idle 152 mbar, 2000 RPM 500 mbar, full throttle 955 mbar.

The fault was cured by adding 2 x DPF Cleaner And Regenerator into the fuel tank and carrying out a 20 mile road test. After the road test the DPF differential pressure was re-checked: idle 21 mbar, 2000 RPM 100 mbar, full throttle 165 mbar.

The recommended limit is 65 mbar for a clean DPF. It is also recommended to use Clean & Protect (Advanced Formula Motor Flush and Oil System Protector) to clean and maintain the oil system and adding Advanced Formula Diesel Treatment to the fuel tank to clean and lubricate the fuel system.

Engine non-start and will not crank over. After further investigation, all the diesel injectors were removed and it was found that all cylinders were full of coolant causing hydraulic locking of the engine. The fault was caused by the water-cooled EGR valve leaking coolant into the cylinders.

The fault was cured by replacing the EGR valve and draining the coolant from all the cylinders.

Oil pressure warning light on when running on idle. The oil pressure was tested showing 0.2 bar on idle. The minimum pressure required to prevent the oil warning light coming on was 0.3 bar.

The fault was cured by carrying out a 45 minute Advanced Formula Motor Flush adding Oil Fortifier to the new oil. The oil warning light went off and the pressure was re-checked, which increased to 0.4 bar on idle. The oil pressure also increased  through the rev range and the engine was running smoother.

Excessive carbon deposits around all injectors and injector wiring due to failure of injector copper washer seals. The fault is caused by contaminated injectors causing an excessive increase in combustion pressure.

The fault was cured by using Air Intake Cleaner to soak into and soften the carbon deposits to remove the injectors and wiring; replacing the injector copper washer seals and adding Advanced Formula Diesel Treatment to the fuel tank to clean the fuel system and restore the injector spray patterns.

Gear change notchy when selecting second gear.

The fault was cured by replacing the gear oil and adding Diff and Gear Treatment.

Problem with a RENAULT MEGANE 1.9 DCi

RENAULT MEGANE 1.9 DCi 2005 20k

Excessive smoke from exhaust and smoke from oil filler cap due to high crankcase pressure,
engine also burning oil. Suspect fault due to bore lacquering and sticking piston rings.

The fault was cured by using Clean & Protect, adding 2 x Advanced Formula Motor Flush for 1-2 hours, Oil System Protector added to the new oil and Advanced Formula Diesel Treatment to the fuel tank and carrying out an extended road test.

Problem with a LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER SPORT 2.7L fault code P0489

Engine management light on. Fault code stored - P0489 exhaust gas recirculation system.

Problem with a VAUXHALL CORSA 1.0L

VAUXHALL CORSA 1.0L 16V 1999

Lack of power accelerating under load and management light coming on intermittently fault code stored for oxygen sensor, checked for air leaks and oxygen sensor replaced fault not cured.

The fault was caused by a faulty mass airflow meter, replacement cured the fault and power loss restored.

Problem with a FIAT PUNTO 2001 1.9L

FIAT PUNTO 2001 1.9L JTD 82K

Failed diesel emissions test at 6.4 [m-1] and black smoking. No fault codes stored or faults found.

The fault was cured by adding Advanced Formula Diesel Treatment to the fuel tank and carrying out an extended road test. Emissions retest passed at 1.6 [m-1] and black smoke cured.

Problem with a AUDI A4 1.9L

Oil cooler failure causing oil contamination in the cooling system.

The fault was cured by replacing the oil cooler and adding 3 x bottles of Bio Degreaser and water to the cooling system. Running the engine for 20-30 minutes at 12-1500 rpm, drain system and flush with clean water.

Excessive black smoke when accelerating, engine management system checked, no faults found.

Problem with a ALFA ROMEO GTV 3.0L

ALFA ROMEO GTV 3.0L V6 1999

Poor running and lack of power. Fault codes stored for both lambda sensors and high emission readings. Spark plugs and coil packs replaced and new universal lambda sensors fitted. Fault not cured.

The fault was cured by fitting genuine lambda sensors, restoring the emission readings and performance.

Problem with a BMW X5

Excessive oil burning 1 litre every 1,000 miles.

The vehicle was treated using Clean & Protect adding 2 x Advanced Formula Motor Flush for 45 minutes and adding 2 x Oil System Protector to the new oil and Advanced Formula Gas Treatment to the fuel tank. The owner monitored the oil level and reported it was now only using 1 litre every 3,000 miles.

Problem with a VAUXHALL CORSA 1.0L

Failing emissions test on fast idle and management light coming on intermittently when driven. Fault code stored for oxygen sensor. Airflow meter replaced, oxygen sensor and coolant temperature sensor checked. Fault not cured.

The fault was cured by cleaning the throttle body using Air Intake Cleaner. Emissions restored and passed.

Problem with a CHEVROLET KALOS fault code P0300

Engine misfire, engine management light on. Fault code stored P0300 random/multiple cylinder misfire. New spark plugs, ignition leads, coil pack and injector replaced. Fault not cured.


The fault was cured by spraying Advanced Formula Gas Treatment into the intake system and then carrying out an extended road test.

Problem with a VAUXHALL VECTRA 1.9 CDTi

VAUXHALL VECTRA 1.9 CDTi 2006 78K

Lack of power and glow plug light flashing, vehicle driven until engine management light came on and vehicle cut out. Unable to restart. Fault code stored for Diesel Particulate Filter blockage.

The fault was cured by removing the Diesel Particulate Filter and pouring 3 x bottles of Advanced Formula Diesel Treatment into the DPF filter, soaking overnight then rinsing with hot water and drying with compressed air.

The vehicle was then treated using Clean & Protect, 45 minute Advanced Formula Motor Flush, adding Oil System Protector to the new oil and DPF Cleaner And Regenerator  plus Advanced Formula Diesel Treatment added to the fuel tank.

The car was then taken for an extended road test to allow regeneration of the particulate filter.

Problem with Diesel Particulate Filters

VARIOUS MODELS FITTED WITH (DPF) DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTERS
Lack of power and engine management light on, fault code stored for diesel particulate filter, suspect particulate filter blocked. 

The fault was cured by using Clean & Protect, 45 minute Advanced Formula Motor Flush adding Oil System Protector to the new oil. DPF Cleaner and Regenerator and Advanced Formula Diesel Treatment added to the fuel tank and a long road test was carried out to allow regeneration of the particulate filter.

Problem with a KIA SORENTO 2.5 CRDi Misfire fault code P1181

KIA SORENTO 2.5 CRDi 2005 50K
 
Misfire, lack of power and cutting out intermittently. Management light on fault code stored P1181 fuel pressure deviation. 

The fault was caused by the lining/coating on the fuel tank coming away and blocking the fuel pickup filter in the tank.
