Problem with a JAGUAR X-TYPE 2.2D

JAGUAR X-TYPE 2.2D 2006

Engine non-start and will not crank over. After further investigation, all the diesel injectors were removed and it was found that all cylinders were full of coolant causing hydraulic locking of the engine. The fault was caused by the water-cooled EGR valve leaking coolant into the cylinders.

The fault was cured by replacing the EGR valve and draining the coolant from all the cylinders.

Thanks to Dave at Station Garage in Whitland, Carmarthenshire.
