EML on and fault code stored for a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) fault, suspect DPF blocked due to short stop/start driving.
The fault was cured by removing the DPF and
manually cleaning with Forté DPF Off-Car Cleaner as per instructions, carrying
out an extended Forté New Generation Engine Flush and adding Forté Diesel Specialist Injector Cleaner and Forté DPF Cleaner and Regenerator into the
fuel tank. The vehicle was then taken on an extended road test with the
vehicle power and performance restored.
Thanks to Mark at Pipers Auto Services in Dorking, Surrey.
Forté's Technical Helpline receives over 300 calls per month. This blog shares solutions for garage workshops on common driveability concerns that can be quickly and effectively treated. The vast majority of those identified are caused by fuel and oil borne contamination formed by natural degradation or via the combustion process. This is a fact of life for internal combustion engines where fossil fuels and oils are used.
